How Economics Got Fred Hampton Killed

So, I won’t lie, son. On the real, I’ve been in a major Fred Hampton frame of mind lately. Now, as anyone could imagine, a lot of that has to do with the Judas and the Black Messiah movie that’s dropping this week. Despite my previous criticism of Daniel Kaluuya, his pedigree as an actor just can’t be questioned. With that being said, I’m positive that he’s going to do Hampton’s legacy justice. In any case, since Hampton’s name is back in the limelight, I’d like us all to really dive into his message. All in all, he was assassinated for one main reason: uniting various groups of disenfranchised people for economic empowerment.

Ok, for those who are unaware, outside of his leadership position in the Black Panther Party, the Rainbow Coalition was his next evolution. With this group, he was able to unite the Panthers, the Young Patriots Organization and the Young Lords for a common goal. Now, while it’s always easy to spot the differences between Black, White and Latino people, Hampton’s mission was to display our commonalities. When it came to institutions like poverty and housing, the affects were felt across a variety of communities. So, coming together to address these disparities was a sign of true revolution.

The truth is, the FBI and the rest of the federal government were well-aware of this, man. J. Edgar Hoover was especially fearful of a “Black messiah” that could galvanize the people. Shit, COINTELPRO was created for the sole purpose of destroying any movement designed to help Black America. Real talk, Black leaders were already considered “dangerous” for espousing beliefs of equality. However, they were ESPECIALLY feared when they turned their attention to economics and coalescing with outside groups.

Look, it’s not a coincidence that Hampton was killed 8 months after founding the Rainbow Coalition. I mean, the FBI had a file on him since 1967, but was murdered 2 years later when he started working with different racial and ethnic groups. Furthermore, it’s not a coincidence that Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated a month before the Poor People’s Campaign‘s march in Washington. Hell, everyone loves his “I Have A Dream” speech, but neglect to talk about his demand for wealth redistribution, equal housing and land rights. All I know is, when King and Hampton started turning their attention to the greater crimes of capitalism, they were removed from this Earth. The way I see it, none of that was by chance, man.

In this end, this is how it has always played out historically. Ultimately, Tulsa wasn’t destroyed because of Dick Rowland. It was destroyed because White people couldn’t stand the idea of financially-independent Black people. By and by, the evils of this country really rear their heads when the money is being affected. At the end of the day, slavery was about free labor for monetary gain. All I can say is, true liberation in this country comes from financial freedom. All of our heroes knew that and that’s a main cause for why they were murdered. That is all. LC out.

Herman Cain Died Over Politics

So, before I even begin, let me make one thing clear: I’m not here to speak ill of the dead. I’m not here to say “I told you so” or gloat about someone’s misfortune. If anything, Herman Cain‘s death highlights the sickness of bipartisanship in this country. I mean, people are so entrenched in this Left and Right bullshit that they’ll cut off their nose to spite their face. All in all, Cain’s death was potentially avoidable and all of our elected officials need to be held accountable for their tomfoolery.

Ok, for those who are unaware, Herman Cain, former presidential candidate and successful business executive, just died from the coronavirus. Now, there’s no way to definitively determine where he contracted the virus, but anyone with a brain can make an educated guess. So, back on June 20th, Donald Trump had his infamous rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In any case, outside of the fact that Trump held a rally at the site of the Black Wall Street massacre a day after Juneteenth, this event was notable for another reason. Essentially, everyone took pride in not wearing masks and not socially distancing.

Look, in the days leading up to the rally, Cain took to Twitter to disavow any mask mandates. Nine days later, he was diagnosed with the virus and ended up in an Atlanta hospital. Fast forward a month, he succumbed to the illness. Now, here’s my beef with this entire situation, son. Real talk, Cain died because of politics, man. Somehow, a health crisis became a bipartisan issue. So, instead of everyone taking the proper precautions to keep themselves safe, some folks are simply adhering to empty and dangerous rhetoric.

Fam, I understand that people want the country to get back up and running. Shit, I’m going through serious Jiu Jitsu withdrawal right now. But, I understand that these minor inconveniences are for the greater good. Like, bruh, seriously, is wearing a mask the worst fucking thing in the world? Is not going to a bar the worst fucking thing in the world? How did we become so fractured as a nation that quarantining can drive people insane? How did there become two sides to a cotdamn sickness? *Sigh* Cats are really dying because of allegiances to a political party and Cain is proof of that.

In the end, regardless of whether I agreed with him or not, rest in peace to Herman Cain. Ultimately, this was such a senseless and unnecessary way to go. By and by, I hope this is a lesson to everyone out there. At the end of the day, we better not let politics be the death of us. That is all. LC out.

The Character Assassination Of Black Murder Victims

Here we go again. Here we fucking go again, man. Right on schedule, here come the authorities with their latest attempt to murder a Black homicide victim for the second time. First, they kill us with their bullets and then they kill us with their accusations. I guess it’s not enough to just destroy us physically. Naaaah, they also need to destroy our image and disgrace our memory. Well, all I know is, I’m fucking tired of the character assassination of our Black murder victims.

So, while I’ve already spoken about the unjustified shooting of Terence Crutcher, I now want to talk about the latest “developments” from the police. Now, I put “developments” in quotations because it’s a FACT the police have a habit of lying about case details. Don’t believe me? Just look up the police report about Crutcher’s death and compare that to what we all saw on the video. Their words say he was non-compliant while our eyes see a man with his hands up. If that’s not enough, how about the recently unearthed video of a St. Louis cop planting a gun on a man he just killed? This happened back in 2011, man. That’s five years of that police department lying about what happened to that victim. With that being said, I treat police reports like the Boy Who Cried Wolf. The only difference is, the boy in this situation gets to keep on lying with impunity.

In any case, the latest news from the police is that they found PCP in Crutcher’s car. From what I can gather, this tidbit is supposed to give credence to Officer Betty Shelby’s story that Crutcher was “on something” and disobeying orders. Man, you can miss me with ALL of that fuck shit, son! Let’s be really clear here, bro. The cops are only bringing up the idea of PCP as a way to justify the shooting of this unarmed man. We already know he was unarmed because the police chief said that on the FIRST DAMN DAY! Now, here’s the REAL problem with this tactic: WE ALL SAW THE FUCKING VIDEO, MAN! Regardless of whatever tall tale the cops try to spin about his demeanor or behavior, there are MULTIPLE camera angles showing him with his hands up. So, in the end, all of their fairy tales don’t matter. A man can’t be a threat if his hands are in the air. Period.

Time after time after time we have to deal with the denigration our people. In addition to the claims of PCP, I’ve seen articles about how Crutcher had a run-in with the law in 1996 and also had traffic violations. Is that enough of a reason to shoot an unarmed man? Once again, detractors try to distract us from the facts in an effort to dehumanize someone who can’t defend themselves. I’ve seen the same thing done to Alton Sterling, Eric Garner, Walter Scott and countless others. They dig in peoples’ pasts to try and sully their names. This way, naysayers can rationalize the blood on the ground. They attempted to do the same thing to Philando Castile with news of his marijuana smoking, but his school community wouldn’t allow it. They admirably came to his defense.

All in all, devaluing Black lives has been standard protocol in this nation since its inception. From slavery to Jim Crow to blackface, it has always been a common practice to negatively depict Black people. It makes the narrative of why they “had” to kill us that much easier to explain. With that being said, I guess the cops really are just doing their jobs. That is all.

Terence Crutcher’s Death Makes Me Mad As F*CK!

In all honesty, I CANNOT contain my anger today. To be real, I’ve been pissed off since last night. As soon as I heard about the shooting of Terence Crutcher, I wanted to break something or someone’s face. WHEN WILL THIS BULLSHIT STOP, MAN! Crutcher is now ANOTHER unarmed Black man killed by the police for NO FUCKING REASON! At this point, I DARE anyone to watch the video of Crutcher’s death and tell me we don’t have a problem with reckless law enforcement. Enough of the damn excuses, son. Something, anything, has to be done. Now!

So, this past Friday, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Terence Crutcher, a pastor, was leaving class at Tulsa Community College. While on the road, his SUV broke down. Around the same time, cops were notified of an abandoned vehicle blocking the road. When they arrived on the scene, instead of helping a man who was having car trouble, the officers treated him like a criminal. How do I know that? Because they can be heard on their dashboard cameras calling him a “bad dude” and alleging he was on some type of substance. To make matters worse, after apparently needing two cop cars and a helicopter to confront him, one of the overseers, excuse me officers, tased Crutcher while another shot him in the back.

Look, I’m literally so angry, I’m having a hard time getting all of my thoughts out. Black people can’t do anything in this fucking country! We can’t even have car problems, man! The job of the police department is to protect the citizens and all they do is treat us like moving targets. Not only did they kill a man who CLEARY had his hands up, but leading up to the fateful shooting, they made a whole bunch of false assumptions about him. Just by looking at him, they determined he was a bad guy who was possibly on drugs. In addition, on the recordings, the officers can be overhead saying he wasn’t compliant. What the fuck does he have to be compliant for?! He wasn’t breaking any laws! His fucking car broke down, man! Also, miss me with that compliance bullshit, son. If anyone actually listens to the voice on the helicopter video, they’ll hear an officer saying he had his hands up. Why don’t these murderers do their REAL job and actually help someone?! Furthermore, why don’t these officers PAY THE PRICE for being killers? Paid administrative leave? Fuck that, son! Throw these cops under the jail!

All I know is, I don’t want to hear ANYONE tell me about “good cops.” At this point, I don’t believe “good cops” exist. Why do I say that? Because when their fellow officers murder people in COLD BLOOD, these same “good cops” say absolutely nothing. Honestly, I want someone to explain to me how Ahmad Khan Rahami, a bombing suspect, can be captured ALIVE after a GUNFIGHT, but an innocent Black motorist can be shot dead in the street. Clearly, police officers know how to deescalate situations. They just choose not to when it comes to Black bodies. Fuck the police. Fuck every last one of them, son. And if anyone sympathizes with these executioners, fuck them too. That’s all.
