Long Live Derrick Rose!

So, I’m going to be real, son. I may or may not have had an emotional reaction to Derrick Rose‘s performance last night. I mean, after everything that dude has been through, how could anyone not appreciate his game, man? Shit, after all of the injuries and all of the setbacks, Rose had a career night, fam. All in all, everybody needs to give him a standing ovation for never quitting and never falling victim to his past.

Ok, at this point, sports fans should be familiar with Rose’s story. Hell, he went from the Rookie of the Year and the youngest Most Valuable Player to the oft-injured/former franchise guy. Frankly, after a torn ACL and three meniscus injuries, nobody, including me, gave him much of a chance, bruh. Regardless of that, Rose kept working, son. Despite being traded a bunch of times and looking like a shell of himself, Rose kept the faith, man. With all of that being said, as part of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the stars finally started to align for him, fam.

Now, for anybody who missed it, Rose went OFF last night. While playing against the Utah Jazz, Rose scored a career-high 50 points while shooting 19/31 from the field and 4/7 from three-point range. On top of that, he made a game-saving block to stop the Jazz from tying the contest in the final moments. Like, could Hollywood even write a better story, bruh? Fuck no! Hell, Rose remained humble though all of his issues and just kept it pushing, man. All I know is, he deserves all of the praise he’s getting right now.

In the end, I hope this is the beginning of a new chapter for Rose, fam. Ultimately, I don’t expect him to drop 50 every night. But, I hope he can be consistent and reclaim even a fraction of his former glory, bruh. By and by, who doesn’t love a good redemption tale, son? On the real, I know I do, man. At the end of the day, long live Derrick Rose! That is all. LC out.

The Most Hoe-ified Boxer Ever

So, I won’t lie, son. I’m only writing this post so I can make fun of Curtis Harper, man. I mean, I’ve literally NEVER seen a boxer walk out of the ring AFTER the opening bell, fam. At this point, I don’t want to hear any of his excuses, bruh. Shit, let’s just call a spade a spade, brethren. Real talk, Harper was scared of getting knocked out by Efe Ajagba. Any other explanation is straight nonsense, folks.

Ok, for those who missed it, Harper and Ajagba were supposed to fight this past Friday night. Look, this bout was such a done deal that both fighters actually made it into the ring. Now, this is where things get confusing and hilarious, son. After touching gloves and hearing the hell, Harper straight walked out of the ring and went back to the locker room, man. As expected, the fans unceremoniously booed him as he made his cowardly journey to the back of the building.

Now, according to Harper, he left to “make a statement.” Apparently, he wasn’t happy with his contract and felt like he deserved more money. Listen, there are a TON of reasons why that’s pure bullshit, fam. First, he signed the fucking contract! Hell, if he wasn’t happy with his pay, then why did he sign on the doted line? On the real, that’s his fault now. He should’ve made a better decision before he agreed to the fight. Second, before this disqualification loss, he lost two of his last three fights. Why the fuck would he think he deserved more, bruh? Lastly, his opponent, Ajagba, won all of his previous fights by knockout. As a matter of fact, almost all of those matches ended in the first round.

With all of that being said, Harper was just scared, son. He knew he was gonna get knocked the fuck out and didn’t feel like the money was enough. Frankly, that’s a hoe ass hoe move and this will probably end Harper’s career. Shit, ain’t nobody gonna book a dude who will straight ghost on a fight IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING FIGHT! *Sigh* Smart move, genius.

In the end, everyone can watch a video of Harper’s sucker-ness below. Ultimately, it was comical to watch a grown man display such herb-ery, man. By and by, this is how Harper will be remembered as a boxer, fam. Like, losing is one thing, but being a coward is unforgivable, bruh. At the end of the day, I hope it was worth it, Harper. That is all. LC out.

What Is Kyrie Irving Doing?

So, I won’t lie, son. I’m confused about all of this Kyrie Irving kerfuffle, man. Like, I truly don’t understand what this man is doing right now. I don’t get why he would want to leave LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Frankly, it better be for personal reasons, fam. If not, this has to rank HIGH on the list of Dumbest Moves In NBA History.

Now, I won’t go into a lot of depth with this story, man. At this point, if people aren’t aware of the chaos in Cleveland right now, then they probably don’t care about basketball. With that being said, I question the motives of Kyrie’s desire to leave. From a basketball standpoint, it makes NO sense to me, fam. I mean, he’s coming off of three straight Finals appearances, where his team actually secured one title in the process. Not to mention, his last shot in Game 7 of the 2016 Finals is one for the ages. All in all, he’s an established winner on this team, son.

In any case, the rampant rumor is that he no longer wants to be in LeBron’s shadow. Apparently, he wants to run his own team and “can’t” fully flourish as a sidechick. Now, there are a few things wrong with that logic, son. First, Kyrie was The Man in Cleveland during his first three seasons in the league. Guess what? The team was fucking turrible, bruh.

Real talk, the year before LeBron came back, the Cavs only won 33 games, man. The very next year, the win total jumped to 53 and the squad went to the Finals. In addition, Kyrie’s stats weren’t drastically different from the previous season, fam. Meaning, a lot of that improvement came as a result of LeBron being on the team. Look, facts are facts, son. It just is what it is, people.

To add to that point, Kyrie is also coming off of his best year, statistically speaking. So, I’m really not understanding what he gains by leaving the organization. Listen, I highly, HIGHLY doubt he’ll get to the Finals by himself. He’ll either have to get past LeBron or the Golden State Warriors. On the real, neither of those scenarios are realistic, folks. It doesn’t matter if he plays for the New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat or Minnesota Timberwolves. He won’t sniff another Finals by abandoning ship, son.

In the end, Kyrie has to ask himself one question: does he want to win or be The Man? If he wants to win, then he needs to sit his ass down in Cleveland. If he wants to be The Man, I’m pretty sure my Knicks would gladly take him. Shit, I’d wholeheartedly root for him in that situation. However; I know it goes against common sense, man. Ultimately, all of this tomfoolery is making it easier for the Warriors to repeat, son. That is all. LC out.

The ‘Most Innocent Victim’ Of Police Brutality

Look, I’m just going to get straight to the point, son. These are the situations that drive Black people INSANE, man! I swear, there isn’t a day that goes by where we aren’t reminded that our pain simply doesn’t matter. Keeping it a buck, the death of Justine Damond is a PERFECT snapshot of our country, fam. At the end of the day, police brutality doesn’t seem to matter until it happens to White people. Plain and simple.

Now, before I continue, let me make one thing clear: Damond deserves justice. This woman did absolutely NOTHING to warrant such a senseless death. All in all, she was trying to be a Good Samaritan, bruh. She called 911 to report a possible sexual assault and ended up dead. On the real, the situation is fucking ridiculous, man! Here’s another instance of a cop “fearing for their life” and an innocent person ending up deceased. Frankly, I’m not sure why cops even have guns if they’re always scared of everything.

In any case, I’m writing this post because of what Robert Bennett said. Now, Bennett is the lawyer that the Damond family hired to represent their slained loved one. So, when speaking about Justine, Bennett claimed that she is the “most innocent victim” of a police shooting that he’s ever seen. Really, man? Fucking really, man?! Wow, that’s got to be the BIGGEST slap in the face of EVERY Black victim of police violence!

So, was Philando Castile not innocent? He told the officer that he was a licensed gun owner and STILL got shot. Was Tamir Rice not innocent? He was a 12-year-old boy playing with a toy in the park. When the police arrived on the scene, he was dead in under ten seconds. Was Jordan Edwards not innocent? He was leaving a party and a cop shot him through the passenger side window with an AR-15. In addition, video showed that the authorities lied about the direction his vehicle was traveling. Shit, do I need to keep going, son?

Moving on, Bennett tried to justify his comments by bringing up the fact that Damond called the police for help. Well, what about Charleena Lyles, man? She was a pregnant woman with four children and she also called the cops for assistance. She wanted them to look into a possible burglary and she ended up dead too. So, what’s the justification for her murder, huh? Man, how DARE Bennett belittle the lives of SO MANY Black victims!

To add insult to injury, look at how fast the system is moving in Damond’s case. The Minneapolis police chief has already resigned and people are even calling for the mayor’s head. This type of outcry is NEVER present when the victim is a minority, man. Also, how come Blue Lives Matter hasn’t come to Mohamed Noor‘s aid yet? I mean, they can find a reason to justify EVERY police shooting, bruh. However; now that the victim is White and the officer is Black, this group has been freakishly silent. Good Lord, the hypocrisy makes my fucking blood boil, son!

In the end, my body literally aches right now, man. Like, all we want is for our killers to be brought to justice. That’s literally all we’re asking for, fam. By and by, the system seems to work just fine when the person is someone like Damond. Well, why won’t it ever work for us? Why can’t we be treated with the same level of respect, son? Ultimately, Bennett’s comments are proof that Black people are ALWAYS looked at as villains. In the eyes of our oppressors, we can never be innocent, bruh. *Sigh* LC out.

Get The Muslim Ban The F*ck Outta Here!

Shiiiiiit, how does Donald Trump like those judges and courts now, son? After violating the rights of numerous refugees, green card holders and visa carriers, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals told Trump to take his Muslim Ban and shove it. Ok, no, they didn’t say it in those words, but the court voted to uphold the block on the travel ban. With that being said, maybe Trump and his administration will now put a REAL plan in place to monitor potential terrorism. However; based on Trump’s response on Twitter, we shouldn’t hold our breath, man.

So, this entire saga started when James Robart, a district judge in Seattle, put a temporary ban on Trump’s travel order. This was done after both Washington and Minnesota sued. Due to the unconstitutional travel ban, many innocent people, including students, were being detained at various airports. The legality of Trump’s executive order was always in question, and when the case went before the appeals court, the three-person staff upheld Robart’s decision. Judges Michelle Friedland, William Canby Jr. and Richard Clifton unanimously determined that the government had no evidence to support the theory that anyone from the seven countries listed perpetrated any attacks in America. So, it was very reasonable for them to shoot this stupid ass executive order down.

Of course, Trump took to Twitter to berate the judges. I mean, that’s his MO, right? He vows to take this matter all the way to the Supreme Court, but that could take months to be resolved. If Trump is really serious about protecting the country, maybe he should have Steve Bannon draft an order that doesn’t violate people’s basic rights. If time is really of the essence, as he claims, he shouldn’t be wasting time trying to take this to the highest court. In my eyes, Trump only cares about winning and not about doing what’s right for the people. As of right now, he needs to hold this L and regroup. How about going after actual terrorists and not aunts and uncles who are just trying to see their families? I mean, that’s just a suggestion, son.

In the end, fuck Trump, Bannon and their First Amendment-ignoring Muslim Ban. Our country already has a strenuous vetting program that doesn’t break the law. I can say that because I’m a first-generation American who has plenty of family members who’ve had to deal with this country’s immigration policy. *Sigh* Once again, get Donald Trump the fuck outta here, son! LC out.

Can I Live In Cam Newton’s America?

Let me start this post by saying, I’m not sure what America our good friend Cam Newton resides in, but shiiiiiiit, I’d love to live there. A country that’s beyond racism? That sounds phenomenal, son. Where can I sign up for a trip to this magical place? Oh, wait, he’s talking about this actual land we’re currently living in? Well, in that case, I’m thoroughly confused as all hell, man.

Now, recently, Cam did an interview with GQ Magazine. While speaking about a variety of different topics, the subject of race came up and that’s what caused my Rock eyebrow to raise. It’s no secret Cam has received his fair share of bad press, especially after the way his season ended post-Super Bowl. Even during the lead-up to the big game, Cam had to consistently field questions about being a Black quarterback in the NFL. With all of the varying attacks on his ability, temperament or whatever else critics tried to single out, for some reason, Cam doesn’t believe these shots were racially motivated at all. In fact, he stated that we’re “beyond that” as a nation. Wow, that’s news to me, son. Well, since his memory seems to be a little fuzzy, allow me to point out a few past situations and see whether his logic holds up.

Let’s start with the letter written to him by Rosemary Plorin. After a game where Newton’s Carolina Panthers trounced the Tennessee Titans, Plorin expressed her disappointment in Cam’s behavior during the game. In her eyes, he’s a role model who should never engage in any type of “showboating” behavior. In fact, she was so bothered by his actions, she expressed the idea she didn’t even know what to tell her 9-year-old daughter. Man, get the fuck out of here. This woman took her daughter to a game where grown men violently crash themselves into each other and she’s worried about the fact Cam likes to dab? Are you fucking kidding me, son? Last time I checked, Aaron Rodgers does that damn “Discount Double Check” every time he completes a first down and I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve seen footage of Rob Gronkowski acting a fool somewhere. Are these players also getting open letters written to them? If not, tell that woman to get off of her high horse and enjoy the game.

Now, let’s talk about Bill Romanowski. After the Panthers’ Super Bowl loss, detractors called out Cam for not being very forthcoming in his post-game interview. It was obvious from his attitude he didn’t want to answer any questions and his demeanor was the complete opposite of the celebratory character we saw all season. Now, I’ll be the first to admit, even I thought he was acting like a sore loser, but Romanowski took it a step further. In a tweet against Cam, he stated “you will never last in the NFL with that attitude. The world doesn’t revolve around you, boy!” Boy? Boy?! Maybe it’s just me, but I was pretty sure Cam was a 27-year-old grown ass man. No one can tell me there wasn’t even a tinge of racial prejudice behind that statement. Do I have to remind people about the history of White people calling Black people “boy” in this country? Honestly, I’d rather not, son. And besides, Google is everyone’s friend. Just go look it up.

At this point, I’m sure there are readers out there who aren’t sipping the Kool-Aid I’m serving right now. Honestly, that’s fine with me. We’ll just agree to disagree. With that being said, a Black public figure of his magnitude insisting we’re beyond race as a nation is still incredibly damaging. Were we beyond race when the Justice Department released a report stating the Baltimore police department regularly violated the rights of minorities? Were we beyond race when Dylann Roof shot night Black churchgoers in an attempt to start a race war? Were we beyond race when officers pulled Philando Castile over because he had a “wide set nose?” I didn’t think so, son. At this point, if Cam has nothing constructive to say on the subject, he needs to just shut the fuck up.

Ultimately, I guess Cam is doing his best O.J. Simpson impression. However; I’d warn him to be careful with that approach to life. We already saw how the O.J. story drastically veered off course. Good day.
