Justice Is All We Ask For

So, let me get straight to the point, son. Look, it’s always refreshing when a murderous cop gets what he/she deserves, man. On the real, I feel like naysayers have always gotten the Black Lives Matter movement wrong. Listen, Black people aren’t only concerned with crime when it’s perpetrated by a White person. Frankly, all we want is equal justice under the law, fam. With that being said, I’m ecstatic that Roy Oliver was found guilty of murdering Jordan Edwards.

Now, for those who may have forgot, back in April of 2017, Oliver, a Balch Springs police officer, shot and killed Edwards. Side note, I’m judging anyone who doesn’t remember this story, bruh. Seriously. Anyway, the shooting occurred after Edwards left a house party with his brothers and a couple of friends. On the flip side, Oliver and his squad arrived on the scene after receiving a call about shots being fired. From there, while approaching Edwards’ car, Oliver shot the teen through the window, THEN lied and claimed that the driver tried to run him over. In any case, after his trial, Oliver was found guilty of murder.

Ok, let’s be clear, son. Oliver’s conviction was definitely the right decision. I mean, anybody with a brain could see that this man abused his authority. The problem is, officers like Oliver are almost NEVER punished for their crimes, man. THAT’S the problem we have with the justice system, fam. Listen, if I shot and killed somebody today, best believe my Black ass is going to prison, bruh. But, when an officer does it, we have to fucking beg for the law to do its cotdamn job. All in all, THIS is what the BLM movement has always been about, brethren: accountability.

In the end, I have nothing else to say, son. Ultimately, good riddance to Roy Oliver, man. By and by, I hope he doesn’t drop the soap, fam. All I know is, a dirty cop like him is going to have a hard time behind those walls. At the end of the day, that’s exactly what he deserves, bruh. Rest In Peace, Jordan Edwards. LC out.

The ‘Most Innocent Victim’ Of Police Brutality

Look, I’m just going to get straight to the point, son. These are the situations that drive Black people INSANE, man! I swear, there isn’t a day that goes by where we aren’t reminded that our pain simply doesn’t matter. Keeping it a buck, the death of Justine Damond is a PERFECT snapshot of our country, fam. At the end of the day, police brutality doesn’t seem to matter until it happens to White people. Plain and simple.

Now, before I continue, let me make one thing clear: Damond deserves justice. This woman did absolutely NOTHING to warrant such a senseless death. All in all, she was trying to be a Good Samaritan, bruh. She called 911 to report a possible sexual assault and ended up dead. On the real, the situation is fucking ridiculous, man! Here’s another instance of a cop “fearing for their life” and an innocent person ending up deceased. Frankly, I’m not sure why cops even have guns if they’re always scared of everything.

In any case, I’m writing this post because of what Robert Bennett said. Now, Bennett is the lawyer that the Damond family hired to represent their slained loved one. So, when speaking about Justine, Bennett claimed that she is the “most innocent victim” of a police shooting that he’s ever seen. Really, man? Fucking really, man?! Wow, that’s got to be the BIGGEST slap in the face of EVERY Black victim of police violence!

So, was Philando Castile not innocent? He told the officer that he was a licensed gun owner and STILL got shot. Was Tamir Rice not innocent? He was a 12-year-old boy playing with a toy in the park. When the police arrived on the scene, he was dead in under ten seconds. Was Jordan Edwards not innocent? He was leaving a party and a cop shot him through the passenger side window with an AR-15. In addition, video showed that the authorities lied about the direction his vehicle was traveling. Shit, do I need to keep going, son?

Moving on, Bennett tried to justify his comments by bringing up the fact that Damond called the police for help. Well, what about Charleena Lyles, man? She was a pregnant woman with four children and she also called the cops for assistance. She wanted them to look into a possible burglary and she ended up dead too. So, what’s the justification for her murder, huh? Man, how DARE Bennett belittle the lives of SO MANY Black victims!

To add insult to injury, look at how fast the system is moving in Damond’s case. The Minneapolis police chief has already resigned and people are even calling for the mayor’s head. This type of outcry is NEVER present when the victim is a minority, man. Also, how come Blue Lives Matter hasn’t come to Mohamed Noor‘s aid yet? I mean, they can find a reason to justify EVERY police shooting, bruh. However; now that the victim is White and the officer is Black, this group has been freakishly silent. Good Lord, the hypocrisy makes my fucking blood boil, son!

In the end, my body literally aches right now, man. Like, all we want is for our killers to be brought to justice. That’s literally all we’re asking for, fam. By and by, the system seems to work just fine when the person is someone like Damond. Well, why won’t it ever work for us? Why can’t we be treated with the same level of respect, son? Ultimately, Bennett’s comments are proof that Black people are ALWAYS looked at as villains. In the eyes of our oppressors, we can never be innocent, bruh. *Sigh* LC out.

A Letter To Jordan Edwards

Dear Jordan Edwards,

*Sigh* It pains me to know that you’ll never get to live a full life. It pains me to know that you’ve become another victim of tyrannical policing. It pains me to know that your friends had to witness your demise. It pains me to know that another family has to mourn the loss of a loved one. At this point, I feel physically weak, man. I’m exhausted from watching innocent Black people lose their lives over nothing. I’m tired of our community being terrorized by a system that hates us. All I can say is, your life mattered, Jordan.

Listen, on the real, I can’t judge you for being a 15-year-old at a rowdy party. Hell, I had my first sip of alcohol during my sophomore of high school. Keep in mind, I was on a boarding school-funded trip to China when I got shit-faced on Georgi Vodka with some of my friends. With that being said, I could never criticize you for having a night out, man. Then again, when I read that you and your friends didn’t even drink at that party, I learned that you were even better than I was at your age.

All I know is, your story is yet another example of the horror that Black people constantly deal with. You left a party that was supposedly getting out of hand and you ended up dead. I mean, it’s fucking baffling, fam! Of COURSE, the police had to claim that you and your friends were driving in an “aggressive manner” to justify your death. As if any spin story could rationalize shooting an unarmed teenager in the head. Fuck, man, when is the bullshit going to stop?! My only hope is that you rest in peace while the cops collapse under the weight of their own lies.

In the end, I really don’t know what else to say, Jordan. Your death hurts. All of these deaths hurt. I… I’ve got nothing else, man. Just rest well, Jordan. Rest well.

Sincerely,

A man who’s running out of ways to honor victims like you
