We Have To Be Honest About XXXTentacion

So, I won’t lie, son. I’m fairly certain that there’s going to be a number of people upset with this post, man. But, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t keep it a buck, fam. With that being said, we all have to be honest about XXXTentacion. Now, to be clear, I’m not here to tell anybody to stop playing his songs. I mean, music has always been subjective, bruh. He might not have been my favorite artist, but that doesn’t take away from what others felt about him. In any case, we all have to call a spade a spade, brethren. On the real, XXX had a VERY problematic history with women and violence.

Ok, for those who missed it, Pitchfork just put out a damning report on XXX. Now, based on secretly recorded audio, XXX seemed to admit to a number of egregious crimes, namely the repeated assault of his ex-girlfriend. Listen, the domestic violence allegations against him aren’t new, son. Shit, I’ve mentioned these exact stories on more than one occasion. However, XXX always claimed innocence and even pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. In any case, it’s not a good look to now hear him blatantly say that he started beating his ex up after she supposedly cheated on him.

To make matters worse, that wasn’t the only crime that XXX copped to. On the tape, he also alluded to a stabbing incident that happened in Florida. Now, based on the original reports, three people were stabbed at Deerfield Beach. Instead, XXX insisted that eight people were actually cut. On top of that, he talked about slicing a former manager. All in all, this dude was on tape just admitting to all sorts of wild shit, man. The way I see it, he was a clear example of “hurt people hurt people.” Hell, he’d clearly gone through some things in life and foolishly took it out on the outside world.

In the end, I’m not here to spit on a man’s grave. But, I also feel like hero worship causes people to dilute the truth. Ultimately, XXX was a troubled fucking dude, fam. By and by, folks can’t properly tell his story without also mentioning his (clear) flaws, bruh. Regardless, he still didn’t deserve to die the way he did. At the end of the day, he was still young as fuck, son. He could’ve eventually fashioned himself into a better human being. Alas, we’ll never know, man. That is all. LC out.

P.S. Despite everything I’ve just wrote, Vic Mensa was out of line for dissing XXX during the cypher at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Look, it’s one thing to call out a person’s bad behavior, son. It’s another thing to say “we all know you won’t live that long” and speak about wanting to catch fade with DJ Akademiks at XXX’s eulogy. Nah, that’s gross, man. Listen, I’m actually a fan of Mensa’s music, but he needs to stop all of the goofy shit, fam. Just make records, bruh. Good day.

So… Eminem Is Pissed, Huh?

So, let me begin this post by saying that Eminem is my number-three favorite rapper of all time. Side note, Jay-Z will always be number-one to me. Also, Kanye West is my number-two, but everyone knows how disappointed I am in him, son. With that being said, allow me to keep it a buck for a second, man. *Sigh* In my eyes, every Em album after The Eminem Show has been trash, fam. That’s right, I’m talking about Encore, Relapse, Recovery, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 AND Revival. I mean, Em will always be able to rap, but those albums just didn’t do it for me, bruh. All I know is, I’m not alone in this assessment. In any case, based on his surprise Kamikaze album, Em took the Revival criticism personally, folks.

Look, I’m going to be brief, son. Eminem disses EVERYBODY on Kamikaze! Like, EVERYBODY, man! Frankly, I don’t have the brain power to link every name to the specific song they’re mentioned in. All I can say is, there are a laundry list of digs on this record, fam. Shit, just off of memory, I remember hearing him diss Donald Trump, Drake, Charlamagne Tha God, Joe Budden, DJ Akademiks, Tyler, the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Yachty, Lil Pump, Lil Xan and Lord Jamar. Hell, I know there’s more, but my brain can only hold so much information, bruh.

As it stands, most of these disses revolve around either hating Mumble Rap or hating anyone who didn’t like Revival. Listen, Em is my guy, but Revival was wack, son. Real talk, instead of dwelling on that, he should’ve just focused on his next effort. Then again, maybe he needed this kind of energy, man. On the real, this is the best Eminem album is years, fam. For whatever reason, an angry Em over Mike Will Made It and Boi-1da beats is a good thing, bruh. It forces Em to switch up the flow he’s been using for the last damn decade.

In the end, I’ll take it, son. Ultimately, this won’t go down as his best work, but it’s a welcome surprise to me, man. By and by, I wasn’t expecting anything from an Em album. At the end of the day, it’s good to hear him with some semblance of passion, fam. For the record, though, Revival still sucks, Em. Sorry not sorry. LC out.

P.S. It’s super weird that Em threw shots at Drake when “Not Alike” is a BLATANT rip-off of “Look Alive.” Listen, I know that Tay Keith produced both songs, but damn, son! At least TRY to hide the bite, man! Good day.

Joe Budden Needs To Chill

Look, I’m actually a Joe Budden fan, man. I mean, I’ve already expressed that sentiment on this very blog. However; at this point, there is something that Joe needs to learn: chill the fuck out, fam! Damn, this dude finds himself in some bullshit every time he steps outside. Listen, whether it’s his feud with Drake or his on-air clash with Lil Yachty, Joe always ends up in some unnecessary tomfoolery. Now, with all of that being said, after his wild interview with Migos, Joe needs to either curb his attitude or pick a different career path.

So, shit went left while Joe, DJ Akademiks and Nadeska Alexis interviewed Migos at the 2017 BET Awards. Joe and company were all representing Everyday Struggle, a show on Complex. During the conversation, Akademiks asked Takeoff, one-third of Migos, how he felt about being left off of “Bad and Boujee,” the group’s biggest hit. For some reason, Takeoff said he wasn’t left off of the track. Umm, maybe he confused himself with Lil Uzi Vert, son.

In any case, Ak asked him to repeat himself a number of times and Joe stated that he wanted to wrap up the interview. From there, Quavo responded to Joe’s comment, then Joe suddenly got up and dropped his mic. Needless to say, Migos and company wanted to slap the beard off of Joe’s face.

Now, here’s my thing: why was any of this necessary, son? Ok, yes, Joe is known as an ornery rapper. Yes, he’s known to snap at Ak on a regular basis. But, he’s supposed to be a damn media personality now, man! If the interview isn’t going well, either switch up the line of questioning or find a smoother way to end the talk. Why the fuck would he just get up and drop his mic? Man, if I was in Migos, I would’ve felt a way too. Like, the entire situation was unprofessional, fam. Anger is not the way to solve every fucking problem, bruh! Joe needs to learn some fucking couth and a little patience.

Frankly, I don’t know who Joe was pissed at. Was it Ak or was it Migos? Now, my money is on Ak, but even still, there’s a better way to handle this situation, son. Shit, look at what almost happened, man! One flippant act almost got Joe stomped out by an entire entourage. On the real, the shit doesn’t make any sense, fam. Joe just needs to relax, bruh.

In the end, Joe needs to make a decision. Does he really want to be a media personality? If not, he can go home and be mad inside his house with Cyn Santana. If he does, then he needs to learn how to handle these incidents better. Ultimately, nobody should get their ass kicked over a “Bad and Boujee” question, son. That is all. LC out.

P.S. Offset is the dopest member of Migos, man. Yes, I know, that has nothing to do with nothing, but I just had to say that, fam. Peace.
