Good Riddance, Michael Slager!

Being real, I’m going to keep this post short today, man. Honestly, I don’t have much to say, son. I’m just happy that some level of justice has been achieved. Now, before I continue, I think it’s a damn shame that this Walter Scott/Michael Slager situation has come to this. I mean, Slager’s bitch ass should’ve been convicted during his trial. Listen, he shot an unarmed Black man while he was running away and planted a taser near his dead body. Look, man, it doesn’t get any worse than that, fam. With all of that being said, I will gladly accept Slager’s plea agreement. In any case, let’s just hope his sentencing is appropriate.

Now, for anyone who missed it, Slager, the officer who killed Walter Scott, took a plea deal in lieu of a new trial. Ultimately, he’s agreed to plead guilty to willfully using excessive force to deprive Scott of his civil rights. To put this into perspective, this charge carries the weight of a second-degree murder charge. So, Slager could end up with life in prison. Look, all I know is, that’s EXACTLY what he deserves, man. At this point, any type of lenient sentence would be a slap in the face of Scott’s memory and his family. All in all, Scott was murdered in cold blood and deserves to be avenged. Hopefully, this deal is a step in the right direction.

In the end, I’m still on the “fuck Michael Slager” bandwagon, son. If it wasn’t for his callous actions, Walter Scott would still be with his family. Listen, a traffic stop shouldn’t have ended with him losing his life. From this point forward, I just pray that Slager rots in the dirtiest depths of prison. LC out.

Can We Finally Talk About Homegrown Terrorists?

Now, before I say anything else, I’d like to give my regards to the families who were affected by the recent terror attack in London, England. No matter how many times these travesties happen, it’s always incredibly sad to watch. With that being said, there’s a conversation that needs to be had, man. Can we finally talk about homegrown terrorists? I mean, if we really looked at the most egregious attacks in recent years, they’ve all been perpetrated by citizens. At some point, we need to stop politicizing everything and speak on the real issues. Our own people are being radicalized and it’s destroying our respective nations.

So, when it comes to Wednesday’s incident, the horrific deed was carried out by Khalid Masood. As a recap, Masood got in his car, drove on the pavement and started running down pedestrians. Ultimately, he killed four people and injured fifty more. Now, it’s notable that Masood was born as Adrian Russell Elms in Dartford, Kent. Meaning, he was a product of the same land he just terrorized. Somewhere along the line, he got radicalized by ISIS and carried out a heinous act of violence. Apparently, even though he had a criminal record, he wasn’t under any investigation for this type of behavior.

Moving on, Masood’s act continues a dangerous trend that seems to be flying under the radar. A large number of the most despicable acts against people are being committed by natives. I mean, let’s go down the line, man. Dylann Roof, the Charleston church shooter, was born in South Carolina. Rizwan Farook, the San Bernardino shooter, was born in Illinois. Omar Mateen, the Orlando nightclub shooter, was born in New York. Alexandre Bissonnette, the Quebec mosque shooter, was French Canadian. Does anyone else see the pattern here? In all seriousness, the most vicious attacks in recent years were all committed by citizens. So, if that’s the case, why the fuck are we always talking about travel bans and border walls?!

Look, if people like Donald Trump really want to keep America safe, then we need to address our homegrown killers. On the real, a wall along the Mexican border and a Muslim Ban wouldn’t have prevented ANY of these incidents, man. So, how will they make any of us safer? I mean, it’s common fucking sense, son. We need to figure out why so many citizens are turning their backs on their countries and becoming radicals. If not, none of these ridiculous preventative measures will have any type of effect. Shit, more people will die and all we’ll do is argue about the root cause in the media. Ultimately, nothing will get accomplished, man.

In the end, these are scary times, son. The problem is, if we don’t come up with real solutions now, the times will only get scarier. Now, instead of focusing so much on what other countries are doing, can we pay attention to our own people? Ok, thanks. LC out.

What Does It Take To Convict A Black Man’s Murderer?

So, if White people don’t understand why Black people don’t trust the justice system, look no further than Michael Slager. This man is the coward cop who shot Walter Scott in the back while he was running away AND planted a taser near his dead body. Look, it’s hard enough getting our killers to stand trial, let alone getting a conviction. Now, after Friday‘s mistrial in Slager’s case, Black people have yet ANOTHER example of how the system doesn’t protect us. Seriously, what does it take for our murderers to suffer the consequences of their actions?

As a refresher, in April of last year, Slager pulled Scott over for a broken brake light. From there, Scott fled, an altercation ensued when Slager caught up to him, Scott ran away again and Slager pumped five shots into his back. To make matters worse, after Scott’s body hit the ground, Slager picked up his deserted taser and placed it near the deceased Scott. Now, how do we know all of this? Because someone was filming the episode on his phone. At first, Feidin Santana, the man who took the video, didn’t come forward because he feared retribution. He eventually spoke up when he realized the authorities were lying about the events that led to Scott’s death.

Fast forward to Slager’s trial, this punk ass officer decided to take the stand in his own defense. Behind a myriad of crocodile tears, he tried to convince everyone that he feared for his life and that Scott still posed a threat, despite being 18 feet away and running in the opposite direction. Even after prosecutors pointed out the fact that Scott was unarmed and WELL out of reach, Slager still maintained his bullshit story of being in danger. To add insult to injury, Slager talked about how this incident has ruined the lives of him, his family and Scott’s family. Well, maybe if this clown wasn’t so fucking trigger happy in the first place, Scott’s family wouldn’t be suffering this pain.

With all of that being said, and with all of the evidence against Slager, one juror refused to convict him. In a statement released after the mistrial was announced, the juror said “I cannot and will not change my mind.” So, I have a few questions for that fucking juror? What other possible evidence would have been needed to garner a conviction? There’s a fucking video of the incident and that’s not enough?! Slager, after watching the aforementioned video, even admitted on the stand that Scott was unarmed and running away. That’s not enough?!?! There was even the option to convict him of manslaughter instead of murder? You couldn’t do that either?! What. The. Fuck. Man?! I’m literally at a loss for words here. At this point, I’m convinced God himself would have to come down from Heaven and say “Slager killed him.” Even then, that might not be enough to get a conviction.

In the end, THIS is why Black people don’t trust the system. THIS is why we say it’s rigged against us. There is literally NO justice for our people. Even during the rare times our murderers are forced to stand trial, they’re never punished. Yes, Slager will be tried again, but excuse me if I’m not convinced the system will work the next time around. It never does, son. It never does. I’m out.

Can I Live In Cam Newton’s America?

Let me start this post by saying, I’m not sure what America our good friend Cam Newton resides in, but shiiiiiiit, I’d love to live there. A country that’s beyond racism? That sounds phenomenal, son. Where can I sign up for a trip to this magical place? Oh, wait, he’s talking about this actual land we’re currently living in? Well, in that case, I’m thoroughly confused as all hell, man.

Now, recently, Cam did an interview with GQ Magazine. While speaking about a variety of different topics, the subject of race came up and that’s what caused my Rock eyebrow to raise. It’s no secret Cam has received his fair share of bad press, especially after the way his season ended post-Super Bowl. Even during the lead-up to the big game, Cam had to consistently field questions about being a Black quarterback in the NFL. With all of the varying attacks on his ability, temperament or whatever else critics tried to single out, for some reason, Cam doesn’t believe these shots were racially motivated at all. In fact, he stated that we’re “beyond that” as a nation. Wow, that’s news to me, son. Well, since his memory seems to be a little fuzzy, allow me to point out a few past situations and see whether his logic holds up.

Let’s start with the letter written to him by Rosemary Plorin. After a game where Newton’s Carolina Panthers trounced the Tennessee Titans, Plorin expressed her disappointment in Cam’s behavior during the game. In her eyes, he’s a role model who should never engage in any type of “showboating” behavior. In fact, she was so bothered by his actions, she expressed the idea she didn’t even know what to tell her 9-year-old daughter. Man, get the fuck out of here. This woman took her daughter to a game where grown men violently crash themselves into each other and she’s worried about the fact Cam likes to dab? Are you fucking kidding me, son? Last time I checked, Aaron Rodgers does that damn “Discount Double Check” every time he completes a first down and I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve seen footage of Rob Gronkowski acting a fool somewhere. Are these players also getting open letters written to them? If not, tell that woman to get off of her high horse and enjoy the game.

Now, let’s talk about Bill Romanowski. After the Panthers’ Super Bowl loss, detractors called out Cam for not being very forthcoming in his post-game interview. It was obvious from his attitude he didn’t want to answer any questions and his demeanor was the complete opposite of the celebratory character we saw all season. Now, I’ll be the first to admit, even I thought he was acting like a sore loser, but Romanowski took it a step further. In a tweet against Cam, he stated “you will never last in the NFL with that attitude. The world doesn’t revolve around you, boy!” Boy? Boy?! Maybe it’s just me, but I was pretty sure Cam was a 27-year-old grown ass man. No one can tell me there wasn’t even a tinge of racial prejudice behind that statement. Do I have to remind people about the history of White people calling Black people “boy” in this country? Honestly, I’d rather not, son. And besides, Google is everyone’s friend. Just go look it up.

At this point, I’m sure there are readers out there who aren’t sipping the Kool-Aid I’m serving right now. Honestly, that’s fine with me. We’ll just agree to disagree. With that being said, a Black public figure of his magnitude insisting we’re beyond race as a nation is still incredibly damaging. Were we beyond race when the Justice Department released a report stating the Baltimore police department regularly violated the rights of minorities? Were we beyond race when Dylann Roof shot night Black churchgoers in an attempt to start a race war? Were we beyond race when officers pulled Philando Castile over because he had a “wide set nose?” I didn’t think so, son. At this point, if Cam has nothing constructive to say on the subject, he needs to just shut the fuck up.

Ultimately, I guess Cam is doing his best O.J. Simpson impression. However; I’d warn him to be careful with that approach to life. We already saw how the O.J. story drastically veered off course. Good day.

Don’t Drop The Soap, Dylann Roof

Oh, wait, is someone offended by the title of this post? Pardon me while I casually shrug, son. Now, look, I’m not the guy who’s out here advocating violence against anyone. However; to be frank, if anyone out there expects me to feel some type of sympathy for Dylann Roof, I regret to inform those individuals, they’ve come to the wrong blog.

Now, apparently, while Roof was on his way to the shower yesterday, a dude by the name of Dwayne Stafford decided to deliver a little bit of street justice. A few punches to the dome later, Roof ended up with some bruises on his face and back. The injuries weren’t anything serious, but probably enough for Roof to realize he won’t be safe in jail. Side bar, I see what the news networks are doing out there. Accused shooter, son? I completely understand the “innocent until proven guilty” aspect of our justice system, but the last time I checked, this kid confessed to the nine murders at Emanuel AME Church. I guess it’s easy to go from being a “race war” enthusiast to an accused shooter when you’re White. In any case, I can absolutely see this being the start of many attacks on the 22-year-old. Like I insinuated earlier, two wrongs don’t make a right, but dammit man, a person can’t murder that many people in cold blood without someone trying to enact some type of retribution.

In the end, I don’t even think I have a point in this post. Honestly, I heard about the incident and not a fiber of my being was moved. Maybe it’s wrong, but it’s extremely difficult for me to have any kind of empathy for such a vicious killer. Let’s not forget the victims here. Those nine church members invited him into their church, into their world, and all he gave them in return was premature death. I know everyone doesn’t believe in karma, but shiiiiiiit, this might only be the beginning for Dylann. Good luck, murderer. Good luck.
