New Music: LC ‘At What Age’

My new song, “At What Age,” can now be streamed on YouTube. Like I’ve said in a previous Instagram post, I saw the picture of that young protestor, thought of my own kids and it threw me for a loop. So, I’ve decided to express myself in a manner that’s most natural to me. In addition, although I’m actively contributing what I can to the families of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, along with several bail funds, I also want to donate any money garnered from the streams of this song to the cause. With all of that being said, click the link below and feel free to share the song. I love my people.

What The H*ll Happened To Ahmaud Arbery?

*Sigh* I won’t lie, man. On the real, I can’t even put my frustration into words, son. All I know is, Ahmaud Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man from Georgia, is dead and no one can really tell me why. The fact of the matter is, Gregory and Travis McMichael took it upon themselves to “police” the neighborhood without a shred of probable cause. When it’s all said and done, all they saw was a Black man jogging down the street.

Ok, for those who are unaware, back on February 23rd, Arbery was murdered by the McMichael’s. Now, according to their story, the two men “believed” that Arbery was a burglar who broke into several houses in the area. In any case, despite not having an ounce of evidence to support this theory, the McMichael’s decided to confront Arbery. So, they loaded up a shotgun and some handguns, got in their pickup truck and chased after Arbery. From there, they claim that Arbery violently attacked them and they had to kill him in self-defense. The problem is, someone actually filmed the incident, fam.

Now, based on new footage, the official police report doesn’t seem to match up with recorded events. First, let’s talk about the 9-1-1 tape. Look, when these douchebags were asked to explain what was going on, all they had was “a Black man was running down our street.” Next, they said that Arbery “violently attacked” them. Well, based on the video, the McMichael’s blocked Arbery’s passage in the street and he tried to run around the truck. From there, yes, Arbery got into an altercation with Travis McMichael. The way I see it, what the fuck else is he supposed to do when two unidentified men rolled up on him with guns? Ahmaud Arbery had every fucking right to defend himself, bruh.

To make matters worse, as is the case in A LOT of these incidents, Arbery was unarmed. So, let’s run this story from the beginning, son. Gregory and Travis McMichael automatically assumed that Arbery was a criminal, chased after him with weapons and then killed him during a confrontation that they initiated. In addition, it took the video coming out for the authorities to suggest bringing this case to a grand jury. The truth is, Gregory McMichael is a former investigator for the District Attorney‘s office. Because of this, a bunch of the prosecutors had to recuse themselves. All in all, none of that bodes well for justice, son.

In the end, AHHHHHHHHH! Ultimately, I have nothing else to say, man. Frankly, I’ve made this argument countless times and I’m fucking tired. By and by, unchecked bias is a VICIOUS killer of our people. At the end of the day, nothing will ever change if these perpetrators aren’t punished. That is all. LC out.

P.S. I want everyone to pay attention to the fact that this story is barely being reported on the news. Shit, unless it’s about Trump or the coronavirus, nothing else gets any airtime, fam. So, fuck the media, bruh. Good day.

The Honey Pot: Why Do Some White People Hate When Black People Are Proud?

So, I’m going to (try to) keep this post short today, son. On the real, some of these hating ass White folks need to knock it off, man. Side note, in situations like this, I have to highlight the “some” because people get offended. Like, of COURSE I’m not talking about every single White person, fam. But, some of their brethren need to cut out the bullshit, bruh. In any case, this The Honey Pot situation is fucking ridiculous. Listen, there ain’t nothing wrong with a Black woman being proud of her success, people.

Ok, before I continue, let me be frank, son. Real talk, when I first saw the Target commercial that Bea Dixon did for The Honey Pot, I didn’t think that it would cause a firestorm, man. I mean, I literally saw a Black woman express gratitude for a company of Target’s stature to feature her products, fam. In addition, she stated that her success could open opportunities for other Black women to shine. No harm, no foul, right? Well, apparently, some White people are upset that a Black woman is wishing good things for other Black people.

Look, ever since that commercial aired, The Honey Pot has been getting negative reviews from (mostly) White women who don’t feel included in Dixon’s message. Somehow, seeing a Black woman hope that other Black women are given similar chances is offensive to them. For some reason, anytime we big ourselves up, some idiots take it as a slight against them. No, dumb motherfuckers, we’re just happy to be given a chance to shine on a major platform.

Bruh, do I really have to explain how difficult it is to be a Black business owner (or a Black person, in general) in America? For God‘s sake, Dixon started her own line of feminine hygiene products and was able to secure backing from Target. That’s a huge fucking accomplishment, son. That’s not something that happens for a good majority of our community, man. So, pardon her for being fucking excited for her achievements. Pardon her for wanting the same level of stardom for other people who look like her. Seriously, when will White people learn that success for Black people doesn’t come as a detriment to them? That’s the same sentiment we’ve been preaching in the Black Lives Matter movement. Yes, White lives matter. We’re just saying that we fucking matter too, simpleton ass muhfuckas.

In the end, it’s clear that I’m mad, fam. Ultimately, the backlash to The Honey Pot has really grinded my gears, bruh. By and by, I’m tired of some White people trying to undercut our wins. At the end of the day, it’s very simple, son. If folks fuck with the products, then use them. If not, then use something else. Black people are not out here trying to exclude anyone, man. Historically, that came from White people’s playbook, fam. Maybe that’s why it’s their automatic assumption. That is all. LC out.

A Podcast That I Did With Randi B.

So, I’m going to try and keep this post short today, son. Now, I know that I say that a lot, but I mean it, man. Well, I guess. In any case, I just want to let everybody in on that new new, fam. With that being said, my brethren Randi B. has started a new podcast. In addition, she was gracious enough to let me get in on the first episode, bruh. All in all, what else do folks need to know?

Ok, as a quick background, Randi’s podcast, Conversations with Randi B., is available on Anchor and Spotify. Now, on this first episode, Randi and I recapped the 2010s. We talked about everything from Barack Obama/Donald Trump to social media to #MeToo to Black Lives Matter to Prince/Michael Jackson/Whitney Houston. Needless to say, we covered a lot of ground in 30 minutes, son.

In the end, there’s nothing else to say, man. Ultimately, I want everyone to go out there and support the movement, fam. By and by, folks can find links to the podcast below. Give it a listen, give us some feedback and let’s get the proceedings proceeding, brethren. That is all. LC out.

George Zimmerman Is One Of The Worst People In Human History

So, I won’t lie, son. On the real, I’m having a hard time controlling my anger right now. Like, the sheer audacity of some people is fucking unnerving, man. All I can say is, I have NO idea how George Zimmerman is still safely walking the streets of America. In addition, his new lawsuit is one of the most unconscionable things I’ve ever seen in my entire life, fam.

Ok, for those who missed it, Zimmerman, the demon who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, just filed a $100 million lawsuit against Martin’s parents (Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin), their lawyer (Benjamin Crump), Rachel Jeantel (the teenager who Trayvon was on the phone with before the murder), Brittany Diamond Eugene (another teenager who Zimmerman’s lawyer claims was being impersonated by Jeantel), HarperCollins (a publisher that released a book by Crump about violence towards Black people), and all types of prosecutors/law enforcement officers in Florida. All in all, I’m truly baffled beyond words, bruh.

Real talk, I honestly can’t articulate how disgusted I am right now. Shit, as a quick refresher, let’s go through what this monster did in 2012. First, Zimmerman profiled an innocent Black kid in his father’s neighborhood. Then, against the advice of 911, he followed Martin and initiated a confrontation. From there, after Martin justifiably tried to defend himself from a stranger, Zimmerman pulled out a gun and ended the teen’s life. Finally, thanks to the stupid ass Stand-Your-Ground law, Zimmerman was unfairly acquitted of cold-blooded murder.

To make matters worse, Zimmerman has run afoul of the law MULTIPLE times after killing Martin. Hell, he assaulted more than one girlfriend (with guns present), and stalked a private investigator. The fact is, he’s a cotdamn danger to society who’s NEVER had to answer for any of his fuckery, son. So, with all of that being said, this fucking animal has the GALL to file a fucking lawsuit?! Fam, I’m absolutely flabbergasted right now. Keeping it a buck, Larry Klayman, Zimmerman’s lawyer, should be fucking ashamed of himself. How on Earth can he justify representing such a piece of pure gutter trash, bruh? *Sigh*

In the end, I might riot if this case doesn’t get thrown out, son. Ultimately, I pray and pray that a judge sees right through this bullshit, man. By and by, I don’t generally wish ill on people, fam. But, I really want bad things to happen to that guy, bruh. Frankly, people like Zimmerman provide a counterargument to karma, brethren. Listen, if karma was real, this clown-cake would’ve been taken care of a long time ago, people. Then again, maybe we still have time. Sorry not sorry. I said what I said. LC out.

I Don’t Know What To Make Of Shaun King

So, let me be honest, son. On the real, I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I’m a Shaun King expert. All I know is, I’ve heard many of the arguments for and against him. With that being said, DeRay Mckesson‘s exposé on him was fucking brutal, man. All in all, if Mckesson’s reporting is accurate, then King might be the fraudist of the frauds, fam. Side bar, I know that “fraudist” isn’t a word, but it felt right, bruh.

Ok, for those who missed it, Mckesson hit King with all of the bullets and Tomahawk missiles in his post on Medium. Now, the purpose of this piece was to bring light to King’s allegedly nefarious acts when it comes to fundraising. Shit, about a week ago, in an attempt to be transparent, King released a report outlining the $34 million he apparently raised since the beginning of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Needless to say, Mckesson wasn’t with the shits and picked apart King’s entire history. Apparently, King has been up to a wide-range of fuckery, son. Now, according to Mckesson, King has fired people who disagree with him, misappropriated large amounts of funds and taken credit for other people’s work. Hell, if I’m reading this article right, $20 million of the $34 million that King is claiming came from the Facebook fundraiser to reunite immigrant kids with their parents. All I can say is, ALL of this shit looks terrible for King, man.

Now, to shoot him some bail, I do believe that he’s used his platform to bring attention to pertinent subjects. However, I was also aware of shit like that Sherita Dixon-Cole situation, where she lied about being raped by a cop. The truth is, King has to take responsibility for any shitty reporting, fam. In any case, if these allegations are true, then King has no excuse for himself, bruh. Frankly, bringing attention to certain subjects doesn’t absolve him from any potential wrongdoing, son. Keeping it a buck, if he’s hiding money, threatening fellow activists or commandeering other people’s work, then a reckoning is certainly needed, man. The way I see it, an exhaustive report from friends and a co-sign from Michael Eric Dyson isn’t enough to alleviate people’s concerns, brethren.

In the end, I’m probably not doing this story justice, son. Ultimately, folks can read Mckesson’s article for themselves, man. By and by, there’s a ton of information to wrap our heads around, fam. At the end of the day, it’s great that the families of Nia WilsonPhilando CastileTerence Crutcher and Botham Jean feel supported by King. Honestly, all families of injustice deserve recognition, bruh. But, if King is also out here scamming muhfuckas, then he needs to be called out on the bullshit, people. That is all. LC out.

P.S. I’m actually sad that I had to write this article, son. Like, this is not the type of attention that BLM needs, man. The fact is, it’s a lot harder to destabilize a problematic system when we’re fighting amongst ourselves, fam. So, how about we all knock off the tomfoolery, bruh. Good day.

We Never Knew Kanye West

Look, let me keep it a buck, son. Everything we ever thought we knew about Kanye West was a lie, man. The image he portrayed on all of his early albums was a lie, fam. On the real, I honestly believe we’re seeing the real him right now. For me, it’s no coincidence that when he became wealthy he began rejecting everything he previously stood for. Shit, he might be the biggest example of who I was talking about in my “Money Can’t Buy ‘Woke’” post, bruh. All in all, his White House meeting with Donald Trump was one of the most damaging things I’ve ever seen, folks.

Now, like I’ve said before, my real beef with Kanye is his gross lack of knowledge. Like, he picks the most public places and displays an INCREDIBLE misunderstanding of the issues. Real talk, when it comes to all of the fuckery he said yesterday, I don’t even know where to begin, son. I mean, we could talk about his thoughts on North Korea. He gave Trump credit for “solving” Barack Obama‘s biggest problem, despite the fact that North Korea hasn’t actually given up ANY of their nukes yet. Hell, they don’t even have a timeline for shutting down their damn nuclear program yet, man!

Moving on, we could talk about Kanye’s misguided views of Black people on welfare. Shit, can someone please tell him that White women represent the largest number of welfare recipients? Like, these are facts, brethren. Next, we could talk about the fact that he likened his MAGA hat to a Superman cape. Even worse, he said he couldn’t get behind Hillary Clinton‘s “I’m With Her” slogan because he was a dude. So, his “manhood” wouldn’t allow him to support a woman? He needed “male energy” in order to feel good about himself? My God, his biological father has fucking failed him, bruh. That’s sexism on a baffling level, people.

From there, we could talk about how he brought superstition into his analysis of the 13th Amendment. Son, what the fuck does a building not having a 13th floor have to do with the government’s “right” to treat prisoners like slaves? Sheesh, did I really hear him say that, man? What the fuck is actually going on here?! Lastly, we could talk about his “victim mentality” idea. Essentially, he used this idiotic phrase to recant everything he’s ever said about race relations in this country. Honestly, I think this was the worst part of the entire meeting, fam.

*Sigh* Kanye essentially blamed a “victim mentality” for why he previously criticized George W. Bush. He blamed a “victim mentality” for why Black people are upset about police brutality. Look, I guess getting murdered by the state with no reprisal has nothing to do with why we’re mad, bruh. Listen, this fool really brought up Black-on-Black crime for why we shouldn’t be upset with police. Newsflash, Kanye: ALL races are predominantly killed by members of the same fucking race! He would know that if he EVER read anything! Fuck, man! I didn’t think this dude could still make me angry, but I’m fucking livid! Like, he went to the cotdamn White House and said all that bullshit, son!

In my eyes, one of the main issues here is Kanye’s wealth. Only a wealthy person can afford the luxury of no longer identifying. Now, let me be clear, man: I’m not saying that money is a bad thing. Hell, I want a lot of it too, fam. However, Kanye wasn’t talking this shit when he was just a dude from Chicago. Frankly, he got rich and COMPLETELY forgot about the trial and tribulations of everyday people. He no longer has to be affected by the stop-and-frisk tactics that Trump wants to enact. He no longer has to worry about possibly dying at a traffic stop. He no longer has to worry about being mistreated by the justice system. So, he no longer gives a flying fuck about our pain, bruh.

In the end, the line in the sand has been drawn, son. Before, I was on some “I can’t fuck with Kanye” shit. Now, I’m on some “I can’t even fuck with you if you fuck with Kanye” shit. Ultimately, the music doesn’t matter, man. By and by, I don’t give a fuck if he drops another classic tomorrow. At the end of the day, I CANNOT and WILL NOT support a man who tries so hard to disparage the people who gave him a career and a platform. So, once and for all, fuck Kanye West, fam! That is all. LC out.

Shot In His Own Damn Home: The Story Of Botham Shem Jean

Fam, this story makes me so fucking mad! Like, I’m not even sure where to direct my rage, son. I mean, the senseless death of Botham Shem Jean was already bad enough, man. But, now the authorities keep changing the fucking story! Why? To protect one of them own, bruh. Real talk, from the jump I told my wife that they would find a way to get Amber Guyger off of the hook for murder. Now, as it currently stands, I HIGHLY doubt any real justice will be served, people.

Ok, for those who have been living under a rock, Botham Jean was shot in his own damn home. Originally, it was said that Guyger, a Dallas police officer, was coming home after a 14-hour shift. Apparently, she lives on the third floor of this apartment building, but got off on the fourth floor. Next, she tried to use her key on Jean’s door, but of course, it didn’t work. After struggling with the lock, Jean opened the door. From there, she assumed he was an intruder and shot him in the chest. Finally, Jean was pronounced dead after he was taken to the hospital.

Fast forward to today, the “official” story of Jean’s murder is now completely different, son. Now, according to Guyger and her legal team, Jean’s door was slightly “ajar.” Next, when she opened the door, she saw a silhouette in the background. From there, she claims that she gave Jean “verbal commands,” but he ignored them. After that, she shot at Jean two times, hitting him once in the chest.

Listen, there are A TON of things wrong with her story, man. First, am I really supposed to believe that Jean was in his apartment with the door unlocked? Fam, NOBODY does that! Second, what the fuck does she mean “verbal commands?” That was his motherfucking apartment, bruh! This woman trespassed on HIS property and tried to give HIM commands?! For God‘s sake, the fucking gall of this woman, son! On the real, she’s legit trying to victim shame a dude who SHE violated! It’s fucking unnerving, people!

Now, to add insult to injury, two witnesses who live in the building have disputed Guyger’s story. According to them, before the murder occurred, they could hear her banging on the door saying “let me in.” Keeping it a buck, that sounds a lot more logical, son. It makes way more sense that she couldn’t get in the apartment than the theory that Jean left the door unlocked. *Sigh* I’m just fucking tired of police trying to find ways to justify why their officers kill people. It’s fucking disgusting, man!

In the end, fuck Guyger and fuck the Dallas police department! Ultimately, they waited like two days to come up with some bullshit story, fam. By and by, Jean lost his life over nothing. Absolutely nothing, bruh! At the end of the day, Black people aren’t even safe at home, son. Fuck, man! Fuck! LC out.

Justice Is All We Ask For

So, let me get straight to the point, son. Look, it’s always refreshing when a murderous cop gets what he/she deserves, man. On the real, I feel like naysayers have always gotten the Black Lives Matter movement wrong. Listen, Black people aren’t only concerned with crime when it’s perpetrated by a White person. Frankly, all we want is equal justice under the law, fam. With that being said, I’m ecstatic that Roy Oliver was found guilty of murdering Jordan Edwards.

Now, for those who may have forgot, back in April of 2017, Oliver, a Balch Springs police officer, shot and killed Edwards. Side note, I’m judging anyone who doesn’t remember this story, bruh. Seriously. Anyway, the shooting occurred after Edwards left a house party with his brothers and a couple of friends. On the flip side, Oliver and his squad arrived on the scene after receiving a call about shots being fired. From there, while approaching Edwards’ car, Oliver shot the teen through the window, THEN lied and claimed that the driver tried to run him over. In any case, after his trial, Oliver was found guilty of murder.

Ok, let’s be clear, son. Oliver’s conviction was definitely the right decision. I mean, anybody with a brain could see that this man abused his authority. The problem is, officers like Oliver are almost NEVER punished for their crimes, man. THAT’S the problem we have with the justice system, fam. Listen, if I shot and killed somebody today, best believe my Black ass is going to prison, bruh. But, when an officer does it, we have to fucking beg for the law to do its cotdamn job. All in all, THIS is what the BLM movement has always been about, brethren: accountability.

In the end, I have nothing else to say, son. Ultimately, good riddance to Roy Oliver, man. By and by, I hope he doesn’t drop the soap, fam. All I know is, a dirty cop like him is going to have a hard time behind those walls. At the end of the day, that’s exactly what he deserves, bruh. Rest In Peace, Jordan Edwards. LC out.

RIP Nia Wilson

*Sigh* Rest In Peace, Nia Wilson. I mean, I don’t know how else to start this post, son. On the real, the word “senseless” isn’t even strong enough to describe her murder, man. Like, there’s literally NO reason why that 18-year-old girl should be dead right now, fam. For God‘s sake, she had her entire life ahead of her, bruh! Instead, a family has to mourn her death after an inexplicable and unjustifiable killing.

Ok, at this point, I hope everyone has heard about Wilson’s story, son. Basically, this past Sunday night, Wilson was riding the BART train in Oakland with two of her sisters. Anyway, as they all stepped off of their train, John Lee Cowell came out of nowhere and attacked the women with a knife. In the wake of the incident, Wilson laid dead while her sister, Lahtifa, was also stabbed. In the blink of an eye, the Wilson family was irreparably damaged.

Now, before I continue, I must admit that I may piss some Black people off right now. In any case, based on all of the digging I’ve done so far, I truly don’t know if Wilson’s murder was racially-motivated. Look, nobody knows what was going through Cowell’s head. Shit, he could be the most racist of the racists, man. However, there’s also A TON of evidence to suggest that this dude was a menace WAY before he senselessly murdered Wilson.

To begin, Cowell has an EXTENSIVE criminal record. In 2009, he pleaded no contest to battery. In 2013, he pleaded no contest again to battery. In 2015, he pleaded no contest to being under the influence of an illegal substance. In 2016, he was charged with theft, drug possession and illegally having tear gas. Those charges were later dropped when he was arrested and convicted for second-degree robbery. For that particular crime, he ended up serving two years in prison. To top it off, his family claims that he was previously diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Look, I don’t want anybody to get my words misconstrued, fam. In no way, shape or form am I condoning what Cowell did to Wilson. Frankly, this dude should not have been allowed to roam the streets, bruh. Hell, how much of a violent history does a person need in order for them to be permanently separated from the rest of us? With that being said, I don’t want us to just jump to conclusions about race, son. Keeping it a buck, the circumstances are already dire enough for us.

Listen, it’s no secret that Black people are ALWAYS targeted in this country. Hell, I can’t even count how many times I’ve written about the consistent and abhorrent bigotry in America. All in all, I can’t rule out racism in this tragedy. But, in this case, I also think that mental health and our terrible criminal justice system played a big part in all of this. Real talk, someone or something needed to keep Cowell under wraps, man. He should’ve NEVER be in a position to carry out such a dastardly deed.

In the end, Wilson’s death is fucking tragic, fam. Ultimately, nothing I’ve said changes the fact that she didn’t deserve to die this way. By and by, NO ONE deserves to die this way, bruh. At the end of the day, my heart goes out to the Wilson family. All I can say is, I can’t even begin to imagine the pain they’re going through, brethren. That is all. LC out.
