Taylor Swift Got Played Like Every Other Artist

So, let me skip the formalities and get straight to the point, son. The fact is, most musicians do not own their music. Listen, ever since music became a business, artists have been getting the short end of the stick. With that being said, even acts as big as Taylor Swift aren’t immune to the fuckery, man. In any case, I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I understand her history with Scooter Braun. All I can say is, based on the story I’m reading, Swift got played like damn near every artist in the industry, fam.

Ok, for those who missed it, Swift is currently at odds with Braun. Now, for anyone who doesn’t know who Braun is, let’s just say he’s one of the most powerful people in the music business. Shit, whether we’re talking about Justin BieberAriana Grande or Demi Lovato, Braun manages them all. Needless to say, he’s a major player in the industry, bruh. Moving on, Swift’s issue with him is related to his purchase of Big Machine Label Group, Swift’s former record label.

Now, as a result of the purchase, Braun effectively owns Swift’s master recordings. Meaning, he owns all of her albums and can do with them as he pleases. Anyway, I think it’s safe to say that this isn’t sitting well with Swift. Hell, based on her scathing open letter, she basically views Braun as the Devil. The truth is, I have no idea if Braun is a good person or not. All I know is, based on the scenario, he just pulled a savvy business move, bruh. A move that anybody with that type of pull would make, son. I mean, Michael Jackson once bought The Beatles‘ masters, for God‘s sake. Much to the chagrin of Paul McCartney.

Keeping it a buck, Swift’s peril is common in the music business. On the real, most artists don’t own their masters, man. Frankly, it doesn’t matter how big the musician is, fam. Real talk, if an artist signs with a record label, 99.9% of the time, that label is going to own their music. This is why most musicians make their fortune from touring, merchandise and advertisements. However, as the years and decades pass, the record label is still going to eat off of an artist’s hard work.

The point is, Taylor Swift is more a victim of the music business than Scooter Braun. Now, it’s still very possible that Braun is a shitty person and bought her music out of spite. But, when he’s that big of an entity, it makes it that much easier for him to capitalize off of her misfortune. All in all, this is why more artists are going the independent route now, bruh. The way I see it, it’s not in a musician’s best interest to align themselves with a label. In these cases, an artist’s future is solely in that corporation’s hands.

In the end, I actually feel bad for Taylor Swift, son. Ultimately, all of that fame doesn’t equal power, man. By and by, she’s one of the biggest artists in the world and she doesn’t own her work, fam. At the end of the day, that should be a wake-up call to all musicians out there. We all need to own our shit, bruh. That way, The Man can’t dangle our life’s work over our heads. That is all. LC out.

RIP Mac Miller

So, let me keep it a buck, son. Listen, I’m not about to sit here and pretend like I was a Mac Miller fan from day one. To be real, I became a fan of his music after he dropped his Macadelic mixtape in 2012. As a matter of fact, that mixtape along with his Watching Movies with the Sound Off album made me a believer, man. From there, I was onboard, fam. I was onboard for his clever quips, his production skills and his live instrumentation. With that being said, it’s a damn shame that he succumbed to his vices, bruh. All in all, Rest In Peace to Miller, folks.

Ok, for those who missed it, Mac Miller passed away on Friday. At only 26 years old, the Pittsburgh rapper died from an apparent drug overdose. Now, for anyone who’s followed his story, he’s had a long history with abuse, son. Apparently, his drug use is one of the main reasons why Ariana Grande left him. In any case, it seemed like he was trying to deal with his issues, man. I mean, judging from his new Swimming album, Miller knew he had some demons to deal with, fam. Because of this, it’s extra sad that his internal strife got the best of him, bruh.

Listen, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, son: everybody needs to leave drugs the fuck alone, man! I mean, cotdamn, fam! How many more people have to die before we realize this shit is for the birds, bruh? Honestly, when does addiction ever end positively, folks? Seriously, the only favorable outcome is when users quit the shit, brethren. At this point, I can’t even count the number of musicians who have succumbed to illicit substances. All I wanna know is, when will enough be enough, people? When will everyone understand that this never ends well for anyone?

In the end, RIP to Mac Miller, son. Ultimately, he died waaaaaaay too fucking young, man. By and by, he had every reason to live, fam. Look, despite everything he’s already accomplished, he still could’ve done a lot more, bruh. At the end of the day, no one’s life is over at 26, folks. *Sigh* Fuck, man! LC out.

P.S. Real talk, everyone needs to leave Ariana Grande alone, son. Shit, berating her in her Instagram comments makes no sense, people. Look, I’m a Miller fan, but his death isn’t her fault, man. Now, I wouldn’t be surprised if their breakup had an adverse affect on him. But, she didn’t put drugs in his system, fam. Listen, we can be sad about Miller’s death and still hold him accountable for his actions, bruh. So, quit the nonsense, folks. That is all.

Chaos At An Ariana Grande Concert

Man, I’m speechless right now, son. Honestly, I don’t have a lot to say about last night’s terrorist attack in Manchester, England. All I know is, the entire situation is fucked up, fam. I mean, beyond fucked up, man. Ultimately, I want to give my condolences to anybody who lost a loved one due to this unnecessary act of violence. In addition, I hope for a full recovery for anyone who was injured in the attack. At this point, we really all need each other, man.

So, keeping it a buck, I’d be surprised if someone didn’t hear about last night’s tragedy. In any case, at the conclusion of an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena, an explosion erupted. This lead to the death of 22 people and the injury of 59 more. As of now, not much else is know about the situation, except that Salman Abedi is the alleged suicide bomber.

Now, in terms of Abedi, he was apparently a 23-year-old British national who was “known to authorities.” Also, ISIS has come forward to claim responsibility for this senseless act. With that being said, I don’t even know what to make of that because ISIS loves to take credit for shit without any verifiable proof. Anyway, regardless of whatever organization he belonged to, Abedi took it upon himself to harm and kill innocent people. Once again, religious/political agendas seem to be at the helm of chaos and dispair. Look, enough is fucking enough, fam!

In the end, I don’t know what else to say here, man. Listen, this is simply a terrible situation, son. Hopefully, we can get to the bottom of this as soon as possible. In my eyes, someone needs to go down for this shit. Too many people have paid the ultimate cost for this shit to go unanswered. By and by, if ISIS is really behind this debacle, they need to be eradicated once and for all. *Sigh* That’s all I’ve got, man. That’s all I’ve got. LC out.
