Have you ever done something that you knew was a bad idea beforehand, but you did it anyway? Like that last drink you shouldn’t have had, or that questionable chick you know you shouldn’t have messed with, or that MMA dude at the bar you definitely shouldn’t have cursed at? Of course you have, because you slightly enjoy self sabotage, admit it. But even before I clicked the link to watch the video for Rebecca Black’s “Friday,” I knew that there would be no way in Hell this could be beneficial to my life, but I clicked on it anyway.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I like shitty music. I’m that drunk dude in the club gooning out to all 80 songs with the same Lex Luger beat, with my Blood Alcohol Level grossly over the legal limit. But after watching every single pain-inducing second of this video, Rebecca Black nearly accomplished something that I previously thought impossible: making me hate Fridays.
Now I know that she’s only 13, and shouldn’t be participating in the same kind of activities that make Fridays incredibly reckless for adults, but hell, when I was 13, I was still trying to get some girl action. Passing notes to the hot chick during class with hopes of getting a good old fashioned grope session by the lockers or the behind the building after school. Rebecca makes Friday sound like the wackest shit on Earth, something that I want no parts of. Now I can’t be totally mad at her, because she didn’t write the song, so whenever I see Clarence Jay & Patrice Wilson, I’m slapping them both on sight.
Since I can’t leave y’all shaking in the corner with thoughts of armageddon after listening to this song, I give you probably the greatest Friday song ever created…
