How Did Pacquiao Lose?

The millisecond I heard the 1st score of 115-113 in favor of Manny Pacquiao, I knew something was wrong. There was no way the fight should have been judged that close. In my estimation, there were only 2 rounds Timothy Bradley could have possibly won. Then, when I heard the 2nd score of 115-113 in favor of Bradley, I was positive that judge was on a “bath salts” binge. Finally, when I heard the final score giving Bradley the victory, I was fully convinced the “Zombie Apocalypse” was real, and I was about to arm myself with enough guns to recreate Resident Evil. Seriously, what the fuck just happened on Saturday night? After watching the aftermath of that fight in disbelief, I’m fully convinced that was the worst decision in sports history.

Ok, where do I start? Every announcer watching the fight scored it as a win for Pacquiao, with him landing more power punches than Bradley, and at a higher percentage. So let me get this straight: in a boxing match, the guy who landed more punches lost? Isn’t that in direct violation of the rules of the sport? Can a basketball team lose if they make more shots than their opponent? Fuck no! That’s the point of the cotdamn game! Nobody believed Timothy Bradley won that fight, not even Timothy Bradley. When asked by commentator Max Kellerman to recap the fight, Bradley said he had to go home and re-watch the tape. If the dude really thought he won the fight, why would he need to review it? His own subconscious betrayed him son!

While sifting through the Twitter and Facebook explosion immediately after the fight, I saw numerous people bring up Juan Manuel Márquez. Now I’ll be the first to admit, I think Márquez got the best of Pacquiao in 2 of their fights. However, those decisions were actually debatable. You can say Márquez got robbed, but there’s enough evidence on both sides to make it a lively discussion. There’s nothing to discuss in the case of Pacquiao and Bradley. Pacquiao clearly won that fight and got robbed.

In the end, I’m sure Floyd Mayweather is in prison laughing, except for the times he has to shower. But if I were him, I wouldn’t take much solace in this decision. I mean seriously, everyone with a brain thinks it’s complete bullshit. The sport of boxing just played the shit out of us all. All I know is, I have no interest in seeing a rematch between Pacquiao and Bradley. For that matter, a Pacquiao and Mayweather fight is starting to lose its luster too. Boxing may need to just give up. The sport is now nothing more than a travesty on life support.
