So I’m sure you’ve already heard, but word on the street is, Peyton Manning is going to be the new quarterback of the Denver Broncos. Now I’m not going lie, despite Denver being his first destination on the “Where Will He Go” tour, I’m still kind of surprised. Despite the organization giving him $95 million over 5 years, I’m still kind of surprised. Despite him allegedly not wanting to play in the same conference as his brother, I’m still kind of surprised. Why all of the shock? If Manning is really looking to win another ring, I don’t think Denver is the place to do it.
Now this post is actually an endorsement of the San Francisco 49ers. Despite me wanting him to retire in my last post, if Manning is really serious about winning another title, the 49ers have all of the pieces to do it. Think about it for a second. They just made a serious playoff run with Alex Smith at the helm, and might’ve won it all if they didn’t run into my New York Giants. In addition, with Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree and the newly-acquired Randy Moss as weapons, their offense could be stupidly good with Manning running the show. With all of those pieces in place, they could legitimately win a title next year. With that being said, I really don’t understand this move.
In the end, if it’s about money, then I guess I can wrap my head around it. The Broncos definitely gave a lot of money to a 36-year-old quarterback who’s had 4 neck procedures in the last 2 years. In any case, I still wish that man the best. I’d still like to see him win another ring before he retires, as long as it isn’t at the expense of Eli Manning.
P.S. Fuck that son, Eli is the “Legend Killer.” He’ll take out Peyton too. Swag…
